From Fireplaces to Folls Bespoke

Folls Bespoke has its roots in nearly four decades of experience in the fireplace industry.

I started out in 1988, aged 18, helping the late Ronnie Hodgson install marble hole-in-the-wall fires. I became self-employed in 1997 and began installing fireplaces for Times Past Fireplaces in Poulton. When Times Past became The Fireplace Superstore in 2001, that relationship continued, and much of my work has come through their recommendations ever since.

Around 2010, media walls began to appear. I started building them alongside the traditional and modern fireplaces I was already installing, and over the following years watched them develop from relatively simple installations into increasingly bespoke designs.

As customers began asking for cabinetry and furniture to be incorporated into their media walls, the work naturally developed again. Rather than simply installing the fireplace and building the wall around it, I began designing and making the surrounding furniture to complement both the fire and the room.

Initially, everything was manufactured either at home or directly on site. As demand increased, I moved into my first industrial unit. Within twelve months I had already outgrown it, moving into a workshop twice the size and investing in larger, more capable machinery to improve both production and finish.

In 2025, Folls Bespoke was born from Folls Limited, bringing all of that experience under one name.

Today, Folls Bespoke combines 38 years of fireplace experience with specialist media wall and bespoke furniture manufacturing — building on the same hands-on knowledge that started back in 1988, while continuing to develop how these products are designed and made.
